Zines are simply personal publications on a variety of topics (or no topic at all).
Zines are often hand written or typed and reproduced on copy machines.
Shown on the left are some of the zines I have received in swaps.

JULY is International Zine Month!
What zine related activities have you done? Here are some suggestions: http://www.stolensharpierevolution.org/international-zine-month/
So far ... I have re-read some of the zines in my collection, downloaded and printed a few new zines, joined a zine swap at swap-bot (zmacs group), posted about zines, entered a zine contest to win some zines, and am working on a zine every day in july!
Pictured below are a few mini-zines I have made.
I have used all types of different bindings for my zines: simply folded, stapled, tied with thread, machine stitched, etc...
This mini-zine is birthday themed and filled with all kinds of little drawings, jokes and tid-bits about birthdays. I originally made it to send to a few of my friends on their birthdays.

I made this mini zine about artistamps for a swap at Swap-Bot. I attached a small glassine envelope to the inside back cover of the zine filled with a small collection of my artistamps.

FREEBIE:
Free mini-comic download for you to print, fold and share. Distribute freely, but please do not sell.
I made this mini-comic for Mini-Comics Day! It's a goofy little hand drawn comic made in a single day's time.
I'm making it available to anyone who wants to download a copy to print and enjoy.
Print to full 8-1/2" x 11" size and then fold like a mini zine to make the little book.

Halloween Mini Zine
A little 12 page zine - 2-3/4" x 4-1/4" with black and white pages.
I printed the covers on colored scrapbook papers - some covers have dots and some have plaids.
Just a little silly story with hand drawn illustrations.
