I love to stitch ornaments for Halloween as well as Christmas! So I thought I would offer a simple free pattern that makes a great Halloween ornament.
The finished pattern measures 2-1/2" wide x 2-1/2" high when stitched on 14ct aida. This pattern looks cute on a gift tag, greeting card or other small project, just as well as an ornament.
There are no half stitches, and since a single color is used - it stitches up really quickly!
I stitched the sample on navy colored 14 ct. aida fabric using 2 strands of variegated DMC floss #90, and used navy colored trims to finish it.
The ornament shown was made by taking an empty cardboard ribbon spool and trimming off the excess cardboard from around the edges. Then felt circles were glued to each side. The stitched piece was attached to one side and Halloween print fabric was attached to the reverse side. A piece of braided fabric trim was then glued with tacky glue around the edge to hold everything in place. Fiber loop and tails were added for hanging.
Project may be completed all in 1 day!
